What if I told you that my life’s basis
is right now faithless?
would you look at me as base and tasteless?

If I tell you I’m an infidel
will you assume I ain't livin' well
curse me to hell and say I’m under the devils spell?
DAMN!
These are the thoughts that make my mind swell cuzz
I really can’t tell if there’s truly an up-above
and does that mean I lose all your love?

What if I told you I don’t believe in the Jesus story
will that instantly jeopardize my life’s glory?
Does it mean I’ll be trapped in purgatory?
You see, this is what makes me worry cuzz
if there is a pearly gate will I be denied without debate
just because I wondered if he was the one to create?

Oftentimes I don’t believe a word the pastors say
and rarely do I get on my knees and pray for a better day.
I better my days by making my own way
Is lightning now gunna strike me on a clear day?
By now you probably think that I shouldn’t be free
or that my mom did something wrong when raising me
but to those who believe it should be clear to see
that I’m simply a brother using the mind he gave to me.
